Auburn basketball flatlines at home

Keep Jaylin Williams in your thoughts and prayers

Auburn could not buy a bucket against the Wildcats, suffer first Home loss of the season, 70-59

Saturday night was not a good one for Tiger fans, porous shooting performances across the board, and a potentially season defining injury.

The Tigers (20-6, 9-4 SEC) could not make a shot against John Calipari’s Wildcats who couldn’t miss a shot. (18-7, 7-4 SEC).

A loss is always painful but one in the best environment in all of college athletics is a true gut punch.

This game was won on a Lexington practice court before it even tipped off.

Kentucky was out for blood

For the first time this century, Kentucky lost three consecutive home games.

Evidently, that didn’t sit well with Calipari’s squad.

The size that Kentucky brought to the table was the best Auburn has seen all season. The trio of, Onyenso, Thiero, and Bradshaw made it difficult for Auburn to establish a post presence.

The inability to win on the interior paired with an inability to make open shots resulted in an ugly outing in Neville.

Kentucky won the glass, forty one to thirty seven, however they lost the turnover battle eleven nine. The Tigers thirty one percent field goal percentage is the third lowest in a home game under Bruce Pearl, that is how Auburn lost the game.

Prayers up for Jaylin Williams

Jaylin Williams suffered a brutal right knee injury.

Williams received a drop off pass on the right short corner and went up for a flush. He missed on a controversial no-call and landed awkwardly.

I advice you not to look up the injury if you missed it live. It’s a gruesome scene and it couldn’t have happened to a better kid, he deserved the elite season he was having, with that said I hope he has a chance to continue it. Pray for Jaylin and hope it is a minor injury.

The aggressive attacks at the rim weren’t present enough

Auburn looked tentative tonight, the continuation of taking shots they weren’t hitting is frustrating. Kentucky was fouling and getting called for it, no reason not to go hard at the rim.

With all the negatives that were seen, there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Chad Baker-Mazara, and Johni Broome continue to be consistently solid. Finishing with fourteen and five, and fourteen and eleven respectively.

Keep your head up

– Continue to keep Jaylin Williams in your prayers

– That was the first win for Kentucky at Auburn in five years

– Auburn has yet to truly get hot, and they are more than capable of doing so

–This team did not quit and kept fighting

-March is where it all counts
