Physical DB Aidyn Wiggins Commits to Tigers

In a major recruiting win for the Auburn Tigers, three-star defensive back Aidyn Wiggins has committed to Auburn , choosing them over heavy local and regional interest.

Wiggins, a standout from Burns High School in Duncan, South Carolina , announced his decision following a recent visit , making him the latest addition to a rapidly growing defensive backfield.

Scouting Aidyn Wiggins: Fast and Physical

Standing at 6’1″ and weighing 183 pounds , Wiggins perfectly fits the mold of what this coaching staff desires in its secondary: fast and physical.

While mainstream recruiting networks currently position him as a three-star recruit, ranking 79th nationally among cornerbacks and 17th overall in South Carolina , his raw athletic profile tells a much deeper story.

Wiggins is a certified multi-sport athlete with elite track speed. According to his MaxPreps and athletic profiles, his junior track and field markers are incredibly impressive:

  • 100-Meter Dash: 10.65 seconds
  • 200-Meter Dash: 21.92 seconds
  • 400-Meter Dash: 49.58 seconds
  • Note: He was a regional qualifier in all three events as a junior.

On the football field, that track speed translates to elite closing distance and high-end physicality. During his 2025 junior season at Burns High School, Wiggins logged 25 tackles, 5 pass breakups (PBU), and 1 fumble recovery (FR) over a 12-game span.

Evaluation Over Star Ratings: The New Recruiting Era

With secondary coach DeMarcus Van Dyke leading the charge , Auburn is recruiting to a physical profile rather than chasing arbitrary star rankings.

Wiggins possesses the ideal frame to excel in press-man coverage or drop into deep-third shells with the closing speed necessary to take away passing lanes. The coaching staff is banking heavily on their ability to evaluate and develop raw, high-upside athletes.

And Auburn wasn’t the only major program that noticed his traits. Wiggins boasts an impressive offer list that includes local powerhouse Clemson, as well as Virginia Tech, LSU, Cincinnati, and Syracuse. Denying Dabo Swinney and Clemson a homegrown talent is a massive statement win for the Tigers on the recruiting trail.
