The Auburn Tigers returned to the winning side of things on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, taking down FCS foe Mercer, 62-17.
The Tigers got off to a shaky start on the defensive end, but used an offensive surge, led by freshman quarterback Deuce Knight, to tally 547 total yards and their most points in a game this season.
Auburn gave up consecutive scores on Mercer’s first two drives, but allowed just a field goal in the second quarter and no more. Against the Division I passing leader in Braden Atkinson, the Tigers held Mercer to 223 yards passing — after 113 came in the first quarter.
