Since the beginning of the Hugh Freeze era at Auburn, the mantra has been, “Flip the Script.” Well, this is one script that has yet to flip going into the 3rd season. Georgia enters the matchup as a perennial powerhouse, fresh off multiple national championships and recruiting classes that rank consistently in the top three. Despite transitioning to a new quarterback, Gunnar Stockton, Georgia’s depth remains unrivaled, a product of years of elite-level recruiting under Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs’ 2025 schedule appears favorable with limited road games — but one of those is a trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium, a venue that has a history of delivering chaos in this rivalry.
Brooks Austin, a Georgia analyst, emphasized how Auburn’s home-field advantage at Jordan-Hare is a true equalizer. “The stadium brings voodoo every time you go in there,” Austin said. “Georgia might be better on paper, but that game is always tight in the fourth quarter.”
For Auburn, the keys to a potential upset revolve around fixing familiar issues: turnovers and offensive consistency. Under head coach Hugh Freeze, Auburn’s offenses have been explosive but turnover-prone. Freeze’s system, heavy on RPO (run-pass option) plays, puts a lot of quick-decision pressure on the quarterback. For the first 2 seasons, that QB has been Payton Thorne. Running back Damari Alston adds another layer of explosiveness, giving Freeze multiple weapons to challenge Georgia’s elite defense.
Defensively, Auburn’s secondary could be a strength. With players like Jay Crawford and Kayin Lee, the Tigers have the potential to slow down Georgia’s passing attack. However, execution and discipline will be critical.

For Mike G, the game against Georgia is more than just a rivalry—it’s a litmus test for Freeze’s tenure. “This is the game where we find out if Auburn’s coaching staff has caught up to the talent they’ve recruited,” Mike said during his conversation with Austin.
A win against Georgia could set Auburn on a path to an eight or nine-win season, positioning the Tigers for a significant bowl game and restoring relevance in the SEC race.
