Kentrell White Chooses Auburn

Auburn University received a significant boost to its 2026 recruiting class on July 4th. Announcing his commitment via social media, TE Kentrell White chooses Auburn over Virginia Tech.

Standing at 6‑foot‑4 and weighing 210 pounds, White is a dynamic, versatile athlete. The 247Composite ranks him as a three‑star prospect—notably the No. 65 tight end and No. 134 player in Georgia. While his junior year primarily saw him line up as a wide receiver and defensive back, Auburn envisions deploying him as a hybrid tight end who can create mismatches against linebackers or stretch the field with his receiving ability.

White is not only a football threat—he’s also a standout track athlete. Twice a regional qualifier in both the 100m and 200m dashes, his speed and athleticism are clear assets for Auburn’s offense. In his own words, speaking to Auburn Undercover, he emphasized Auburn’s platform for exposure and the chance to make “big plays”. Additionally, his relationships with Auburn’s tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua and recruiting director Kenyatta Watson—who has followed his recruitment since his Georgia Tech offer—were pivotal to his decision.

Recruiting Momemntum

White becomes Auburn’s seventh commitment of the 2026 cycle and the first tight end to pledge . Coming off a slow recruiting period—where the Tigers were trailing in SEC standings—his pledge helps pull Auburn from the basement, raising their class ranking from 90‑plus back to around 84 nationally . This commitment is also a key counter to late flips away from the program, with losses like WR Devin Carter and Denairius Gray earlier in the summer. Auburn is hoping this jump starts some momentum in recruiting.

Head coach Hugh Freeze’s offense will gain flexibility with White. His ability to align inline, flex out as a receiver, or even return kicks offers depth and versatility that Auburn sorely needs. As the Tigers look to maintain momentum from consecutive top‑10 recruiting classes, White’s commitment is a timely statement that Auburn’s pipeline is far from depleted.

Expect further analysis and recruiting momentum throughout July—as Auburn aims to tighten its grip on SEC talent.
