Auburn has always had a fierce rivalry with Alabama in football. Things have become tense across all sports of late as each school’s team improves. Has the rivalry between the two schools become the best rivalry in all of college sports?
Auburn has not been keeping pace on the football field. No one can deny that. Alabama has been the gold standard since Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa (Kirby Smart may have something to say about that now). However, that has not prevented the Iron Bowl from being one of the most intense grid iron rivalries.
Now, with Auburn Basketball growing under Coach Bruce Pearl and Nate Oats rounding Alabama Basketball into form, the rivalry on the hardwood has become a hotly contested one with higher stakes. Add to that, there is a growing rivalry in gymnastics.
It does not seem to matter what the playing surface is, when Auburn faces Alabama, there seems to be high stakes involved and a ton of trash talk amongst the fanbases.
Is it even a debate in anybody’s mind whether or not the rivalry of these two schools, across all sports, is the best rivalry in college…

The hope, for Auburn fans, is that Auburn begins to win more so that the rivalry continues to have larger stakes than “bragging rights.” The jury is still out about whether or not that is going to be the case on the Football field. Coach Hugh Freeze, we need you!
