Arkansas had an opportunity to make the statement that it was ready to contend in the SEC West this past weekend. Instead, it was Texas A&M who emerged victorious in a very close battle. Since the upset loss to Appalachian State a few weeks back, A&M has bounced back by securing back-to-back wins over top 25 opponents. The Aggies will have opportunities to knock off a few teams ranked ahead of them. For now, I have them coming in at #6, followed by Arkansas at #7.
There’s a popular cliché that states an ugly win is much better than an ugly loss. That sentiment describes Auburn’s recent victory over Missouri to a tee. Last weekend, Auburn went into overtime with one of the SEC’s worst teams…and almost lost…at home! That was not the performance many Auburn fans wanted to see, after coming off a blowout loss to Penn State the prior week. The good news is that Auburn is 3-1 and technically controls its SEC destiny going into the month of October. The bad news is that the schedule gets a lot tougher, starting with LSU this Saturday. Until Auburn begins to show and prove that they’re a better team than what they’ve shown so far, they will remain in the dungeon until further notice.
