The QB battle concludes with confirmation of what has been expected for weeks: TJ Finley is QB1. But the door is far from closed.
Weeks of speculation and an unusual amount of candor from the coaches end uneventfully with the announcement that TJ Finley will be the starter for Auburn’s first game of the 2022 season against the Mercer Bears. The first week of fall camp telegraphed this outcome with TJ Finley getting first reps in most practices and both scrimmages.
Coaches were effusive in their praise of Finley all fall camp, citing his maturity, professionalism, grasp of the offense, and command of the huddle. The only question was whether or not Robby Ashford or Zach Calzada could make up ground over the 3 weeks of fall camp to make the decision more difficult.
The answer to that question seems to be “No.” For now at least. And the fan reactions have been less than positive.
If you can’t watch and root for Auburn then just watch something else, man. There’s plenty of other football on, I’m sure. Just turn in your block “AU.” “Return to Sender” on your degree, if those people even had one. To hell with you.
