A noteworthy story this week has been Hugh Freeze’s comments on the QB room. He said that Payton (Thorne) remains the best field general on the roster. However, Robby Ashford and Holden Geriner are nipping at his heels.
I need to see 300 yards through the air this week.
-Ike Jones on the Midweek Rapport
Payton Thorne looked incredibly rattled in his performance against Cal. As a veteran player, he is expected to have control of the offense and play up to his standards on the road. He could not make consistent throws and could not get into a rhythm. With all that said, he remained poised and led a strong game winning drive. He will bounce back in a comfortable environment and will gain momentum heading into College Station in week 4.
As for the rest of the Tigers, this will be a tune up game. The connection between the Quarterbacks and Receivers will be worked on with a plethora of simple pass plays. It will also be a good time to break Jarquez Hunter back into the rhythm of the offense. Auburn is going to win this game, 51-9.
