The greatest college football coach of all time hangs up his whistle for the final time
What a career for Nick Saban, 7 national championships (6 at Alabama, 1 at LSU). 292 wins and 70 losses over the span of his 28 year career. With the proper respect given it’s time to celebrate for SEC fans, the dynasty is 6 feet in the ground and the new era of college football has arrived.
- Dan Lanning
- Lane Kiffin
- Steve Sarkissian
- Marcus Freeman
- Sherrone Moore
The following names are the realistic options for the next head man for the Crimson and White. Lane Kiffin has pined for the job while being at Ole Miss, as an Auburn fan I’m hoping to see Kiffin go to Alabama. The program he’s built at Ole Miss will crumble and he is not equipped to maintain the roster and staff at Alabama. The best hire for Alabama is Dan Lanning he’s a young guy who can recruit at a high level and utilize the portal without relying on it contrary to Lane, however he has a great gig at Oregon and I do not expect him to let it go.
As for Auburn, this could not have happened at a better time. Hugh Freeze is looking to take a massive step forward in year two and with the changes across the state the opportunity to get a win streak going in the Iron Bowl and take a foothold in the 2025, and 2026 recruiting classes. The other objective on the white board in 2024 5 star receiver Ryan Williams, Auburn has stayed consistently pushing and is moving towards flipping the extraordinarily talented wide out.
The program that runs College Football has become up for grabs, it has 5 toes down in Athens, Georgia but the opportunity for a new power to rise is in front of us. To put a button on the situation, Nick Saban retired with a 5-7 Record in Jordan Hare Stadium.
