Auburn Football’s Top 40 Player Countdown: 40–37

The War Rapport’s Top 40 Auburn Football Players countdown is officially underway. Using 2023 PFF grades, we’re highlighting key names expected to impact the 2024 season. This week, we break down players ranked #40–#37.

#40 – Taye Seymore, S (Transfer – Georgia Tech)

Seymore brings physicality to the Auburn secondary after logging 401 snaps at Georgia Tech last season. His PFF grade (46.9) wasn’t great overall, but a 60.9 run defense grade shows promise as a downhill defender.

The concern? 17 missed tackles in 2024. Seymore will need to tighten that up if he hopes to earn playing time in a safety group that needs depth and experience.

#39 – Mason Murphy, OL (Transfer – USC)

Murphy brings experience with 817 snaps played in 2024. He posted a 55.6 overall PFF grade, including a 60.4 run blocking grade, but struggled in pass protection at times—most notably against Michigan, where he earned an abysmal 1.6 pass pro grade.

He brings some versatility, playing both the Right and Left Tackle positions last season. He likely will be competing for the Right Tackle spot with Izavion Miller. The only other issue, looking at the stats, would be his 10 penalties, which must be corrected if he hopes to challenge for the right tackle job.

#38 – Preston Howard, TE (Transfer – Maryland)

Howard won’t wow anyone with his receiving stats, but his blocking makes him a valuable addition. In 409 snaps, he posted a 56.1 overall grade, with solid marks in both run and pass blocking.

He’s unlikely to push Brandon Frazier for TE1 duties but could carve out a niche role as a blocking tight end in short-yardage sets and special teams.

#37 – Kensley Louidor-Faustin, DB (Sophomore)

Kensley Louidor-Faustin appeared in limited action last year (146 snaps) but showed potential with his physicality on the outside. He posted a 56.9 overall grade, with a 67.4 run defense mark.

His weakness? Missed tackles. He’ll need to clean that up to contribute consistently, but he’s a name to watch on special teams and in sub-packages.
