Auburn has filled their need at the four position with Hudson. One key note is that, while having three years of playing experience, he has two years of eligibility remaining.
The Junior averaged five points, three rebounds, and shot 43% from the field and 32% from three. Face value these look a bit underwhelming, however it was in a backup role. He does a lot of things that don’t show up in the box score. Imagine Chris Moore with a better shot.
After targets, Dillon Mitchell, Achor Achor, and RJ Godfrey went elsewhere, Auburn’s options looked bleak. However, this staff found a good schematic fit with Hudson who is also comfortable with competing for his role in the rotation.
With the front court set in place, all eyes fall on finding another point guard to pair with JP Pegues. JUCO transfer guard Dior Johnson recently completed a zoom interview with a few coaches. Johnson was a heralded 5 star but had criminal issues surrounding domestic abuse, forcing him to the JUCO route. Everyone deserves grace and forgiveness if they have remorse and changed their ways. Bruce will decide if that is the case or not.
