Auburn’s Hot Shooting Secures Road Win Over No. 25 Ole Miss

Auburn basketball continues its dominant run in SEC play, securing another crucial road victory with a 92-82 win over No. 25 Ole Miss. The Tigers remain undefeated in conference play, once again proving their resilience in hostile environments.

Johni Broome led the way with another stellar performance, recording a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Despite scoring most of his points in the first half, Broome’s presence in the paint forced double teams that opened up Auburn’s perimeter shooters. He is bolstering his campaign to be the National Player of the Year this season.

And Auburn’s three-point shooting was the story of the night. The Tigers shot 50% from deep (14-of-28), preventing any serious Ole Miss comeback attempts. Every time the Rebels tried to shift momentum, Auburn responded with a dagger from beyond the arc.

Key Performances

  • Denver Jones bounced back in a big way, scoring 16 points while shooting 4-of-7 from three and adding four assists.
  • Chad Baker-Mazara was clutch, finishing with 18 points on 4-of-6 from three, providing timely buckets in both halves.
  • Miles Kelly contributed 15 points, continuing his consistent scoring for the Tigers.
  • Tahad Pettiford made a huge impact with his best all-around game of the season, finishing with 9 points and a team-high five assists. His +17 plus-minus was the best on the team.
  • Dylan Cardwell played a pivotal role defensively and even delivered 4-of-5 free throws, including clutch makes late in the game.

Auburn Overcomes Officiating, Ole Miss Free Throws

Despite Ole Miss getting 35 free throw attempts, Auburn’s efficiency from deep and unselfish ball movement sealed the win. The Tigers finished with 22 assists on 30 made baskets, showing their commitment to team basketball.

Late in the game, a technical foul on Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard allowed Auburn to put the game out of reach. The Rebels’ missed 11 free throws, which proved costly in their double-digit loss.
