Auburn’s offense never found its footing on Saturday at Kyle Field, as the Tigers fell 16-10 to No. 9 Texas A&M for their second straight loss.

Auburn’s defense — along with a series of Texas A&M miscues — kept the Tigers within striking distance. But the offense managed just 177 total yards and only one yard in the fourth quarter, as Auburn was unable to overcome the stagnant performance.

Here are some stats and tidbits from the Tigers’ loss to the Aggies:

Miscellaneous

– Auburn fell to 0-2 in conference play with the loss. It is the third straight season the Tigers have started 0-2 in SEC play. Additionally, Auburn has started each of the last two seasons 0-4 in SEC play.

– The Tigers were seeking their first win against a ranked opponent on the road since 2019. They were also looking for their first win against a top-10 team since 2021, and their first win against a top-10 team on the road since 2014.

– Auburn fell to 1-10 against ranked opponents under head coach Hugh Freeze’s tutelage.

– After reeling off four consecutive wins in College Station, beginning in 2013, Auburn has not beaten the Aggies on their home turf since 2019. The Tigers fell to 9-7 in the all-time series against the Aggies.

– Auburn’s defense has allowed 16.7 points per game this season, which ranks 18th nationally. It is the lowest mark since the 2021 season (16.2).

– The Tigers have recorded 12 rushing touchdowns on the season. They are just one away from matching last season’s total. Additionally, five different players have accounted for a rushing score, compared to just three players doing so all of last season.

– Entering Saturday’s matchup, Auburn was just one of four FBS teams with two players who have at least four scores on the ground: Jackson Arnold (5) and Jeremiah Cobb (4).

– Auburn was the only team in the country playing its third road game of the season against a Power 4 opponent this week.

Game Specifics

– Auburn went 0-for-12 on third down against the Aggies. It was the first time since 2006 that Auburn had not converted a single third-down attempt.

– The Tigers were held to their lowest offensive total yard output (177) since 2008.

– Auburn has scored on all 14 of its trips to the red zone with 10 touchdowns, tying it for first in the nation in that regard.

– Arnold is the only Auburn quarterback to go five-straight games at any point in the season without a turnover since 1996.

– Eric Singleton Jr. extended his catch streak to 29 games, every game of his collegiate career thus far. His 37-yard catch in the first half was his longest of the season.

– Cam Coleman has caught a pass in 11 straight games.

– Brandon Frazier caught five passes for 28 yards, a career and season high, respectively.

– Kensley Louidor-Faustin’s and Chris Murray’s four tackles apiece set career highs.

– Xavier Atkins set a career high with 10 tackles. His 73-yard interception in the fourth quarter was the first of his career and the longest for an Auburn player since Smoke Monday returned one for 100 yards in 2020.

– Demarcus Riddick’s four tackles set a season high.

– Robert Woodyard Jr. set a career high with nine tackles.

– Bobby Jamison-Travis set a career high with five tackles.

– Malik Blocton tied a career high with three tackles.

– Alex McPherson improved to 24-of-26 on field goals in his career after knocking down a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter.

– Auburn has converted 172 consecutive point-after kicks dating back to the second kick of the 2021 season and has scored in a school-record 159 consecutive games, dating back to the first game of 2013.

– Malcolm Simmons and Blocton both recorded their first starts of the season.
