Auburn Football is still making strides, especially on defense. Coach Hugh Freeze seems to think that the linebackers are a deeper and more talented group than he first anticipated.
Coach Hugh Freeze spoke highly of the linebacker status during Spring for Auburn Football. It is clear that they are more talented in that group that he initially assumed. It is a good sign that the linebackers are better than expected.
When speaking to the media, Coach Hugh Freeze remarked that the linebackers room is a “little deeper and better” than he had thought coming in. That bodes well for a room that was often criticized last year.
Auburn fans are excited about the prospects of the two SEC transfers into the room (Demario Tolan and Austin Keys). However, some of the ones in the room already, have been getting high praise. We know about Cam Riley, who played well last season. But, Red Shirt Freshman, Robert Woodyard and the Senior, Wesley Steiner have also been improving and picking up things well. Having depth is key to sustained success. We seem to be, as a whole, more talented in that room.
The expectations are in line with what the talent is in these rooms.

The coaching staff feeling good about the linebacker position is great. These guys could be the difference in a run defense that was porous at times last season and frequently seemed out of place and missing tackles. If the linebackers can raise their floor, Auburn will have a defense that is tough to face in the fall.
