Grading Auburn’s offseason

How did Hugh Freeze handle building a staff and a recruiting class?

As the final days of the offseason are upon us, how did it fair for the Tigers?

272 days ago, Hugh Freeze was named the 31st Head Coach of the Auburn Tigers. What followed was the best offseason possible for a program stalling in the midst of the worst hire in college football history?

Auburn’s program was elevated significantly by Cadillac Williams taking over

-B-Will on the Weekend Tailgate

When Cadillac Williams was named the interim head coach it swung momentum into Auburn’s favor. While he was holding down the fort, recruits saw the enthusiasm of the Auburn family and it worked greatly to Hugh Freeze’s advantage. When players such as, Perry Thompson, and Demarcus Riddick see the potential for a program before a staff coaches a down, Auburn has the upper hand.

As for the staff itself, it became a top 25 in the country. The retention of Cadillac, Zac Etheridge, and Josh Aldridge where instrumental to their success on the recruiting trail. The same can be said for bringing back Wesley Mcgriff and hiring Marcus Davis. The best addition was Philip Montgomery as Offensive Coordinator. Auburn has consistently played down to the competition offensively, the former Tulsa HC will be key to fixing that.
