Auburn University has just made a significant addition to its 2026 recruiting class, securing a commitment from Mississippi-based running back Eric “EP” Perry. Standing at 6‑foot and weighing in around 195 pounds, Perry brings both size and versatility to the Tigers’ backfield rotation.
Today, via his social media, Eric (EP) Perry announced his commitment to Auburn University. The running back from Mississippi is the 8th commit to the 2026 recruiting class. Meanwhile, on On3 he’s rated the No. 64 running back in the 2026 cycle, underscoring his talent and potential.

Hailing from DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, Perry brings a rare dual-threat pedigree to the Tigers. While officially listed as a running back, he showcased a quarterback’s instincts last season—throwing for 866 yards and rushing for around 880 yards, including 11 total touchdowns. That versatility makes him a dynamic weapon for Auburn’s offense. Perry, is currently ranked as a 3-Star. He is listed as the 125 ranked ATH in the nation and 52nd ranked in the state of Mississippi according to 247Sports.
With Perry officially onboard, Auburn adds depth and versatility to its backfield rotation. His combination of size, dual-threat skill set, and intangible work ethic could make him a key contributor early on in his collegiate career. In adding Perry, Auburn not only gains traditional ground-game depth but also a player capable of lining up at QB and initiating read-option plays or jet sweeps. That flexibility will allow coach Hugh Freeze’s offense to remain unpredictable and adaptable.
