Betting With B Wil: Week 13

Week 13 SEC Football Betting Action

Our final week of action after only a partial week last week (my apologies, truly). We came out at 2-2 but we’re looking to close strong and approach that 60% mark.

Week 12:
Florida -14 ❌
Georgia vs Kentucky UNDER 47 ✔
Auburn -4.5 ✔
Auburn vs Western Kentucky UNDER 54 ❌

Week 12: 2-2
Overall: 49-36-3

Georgia Tech (+36) vs Georgia (-36)
O/U: 49

Kick: 12:00pm ET
Location: Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA
Broadcast: ESPN

Georgia is hitting their defensive stride, and that’s bad news for everybody who has to face them for the rest of the postseason. Georgia Tech is a peculiar case as opponents because they’re playing under an interim HC. There are no tendencies or habits to draw from in his matchup against Kirby and the dawgs, so it’s tough to say whether or not they can surprise today.

Kirby hasn’t been one to allow for any unexpected outcomes when it comes to Georgia Tech in his tenure at Georgia, so it’s safer to bet on total domination from Georgia. But 36 is a lot of points, and any decent effort from Stetson Bennett and the Georgia offense will put that spread in danger. It’s much better to bet the under here since it’s so palatable. Kirby won’t have anything to prove if his defense does its job, and I’m betting they will. I’m betting the UNDER here.

UNDER 49

South Carolina (+14.5) vs Clemson (-14.5)
O/U: 53

Kick: 12:00pm ET
Location: Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC
Broadcast: ABC

Carolina absolutely obliterated Tennessee last week to take the crown for the “We didn’t see this coming” game of the year in the SEC. Tennessee had a possible playoff berth to play for and still ended up giving up 63 points against a South Carolina squad that had spent most of the season struggling to score against conference opponents. So it stands to reason that South Carolina may have found something, but was it just a one time thing?

We know that Clemson’s defense has been formidable while their offense has been questionable. And they’ve dominated the Gamecocks over the last 6 years, and that includes Beamer’s 1st season in 2021. Could an offense that scored 63 against Tennessee get stifled by Clemson just 7 days later?

I have no idea. I do not now and have not ever trusted Spencer Rattler, but I also have very little faith in DJ U to actually be a consistent passing threat in this offense. If I had to bet, I’d bet on Clemson to win this game, but there’s very little value in that. So this one is a straight up PASS.

PASS

Louisville (+3) vs Kentucky (-3)
O/U: 42.5

Kick: 3:00pm ET
Location: Kroger Field, Lexington, KY
Broadcast: SEC Network

Here we are again with Kentucky, with me telling you one more time that Will Levis and this offense is not to be trusted. Knowing that has served us well this season, knowing that Kentucky will end up UNDER on points more often than they won’t. This game will be no exception, with Louisville being no slouch on the defensive end. Between these two teams, they average less than 40 points per game. So we’re going to jump all over the UNDER here and let it ride.

UNDER 42.5

Auburn (+22.5) vs Alabama (-22.5)
O/U: 50

Kick: 3:30pm ET
Location: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL
Broadcast: CBS

This is the one we’ve been waiting for. We know who we are, even though it’s changed quite a bit in the last 4 weeks. The biggest difference has been the effort shown by the team under interim HC Cadillac Williams. Auburn is still talent deficient in some key areas, but they at least seem to be maximizing the talent and utilizing it to its best effect with the house cleaned of Harsin’s offensive influence.

Bama is a disappointing team this year, to be sure. Their offense has been stifled more times than they should to be fielding a Heisman winning QB and outstanding RB Gibbs. Their defense has gotten torched twice against Tennessee and LSU. And they almost lost to the conference’s worst team – Texas A&M – at home when Bryce Young wasn’t available. For the last two years, the Bama product hasn’t been equal to the recruiting parts that they’ve been collecting.

A sufficiently motivated underdog Auburn team and a limping Bama team pouting from having their postseason hopes dashed in early November? A recipe for an Auburn cover. I’m taking the home team.

Auburn +22.5

That covers today’s action through the 3:30pm ET start times. Check back for an update on the rest of the day’s SEC betting action around 2pm ET.
