Auburn Football concluded the Spring Camp with a very rainy and, somewhat, disappointing A-Day game. The weather made it difficult for fans to really see what the potential would be for this team. What was clear after the game, when talking to Coach Hugh Freeze is, Auburn is still on a talent hunt.
The clear theme of any conversation that is had with Coach Freeze is that he is constantly eyeing ways to improve the talent floor of the program. Despite giving a vote of confidence to his team saying he feels like he can “win games” with the guys that he currently has. He does not shy away from putting the word out to anyone listening that he is still in the market for talent that can come in and play.
He is constantly giving praise to the guys who made the decision, since he was announced as Head Coach, whether they are true freshman or transfer players. This seems to be a signal to other recruits that they can come in and play at Auburn. He has said as much a few times. It makes it clear that he feels like there is work to do, still.

It begs the question, how are the guys on the team going to be able to prove they can do it with the lights on if they are never given the opportunity? Coach Freeze acknowledges that some guys are not practice players but can be gamers. Is he going to have patience with these guys to find out if they are ready for the bright lights or will he keep his focus on the portal to find solutions to the perceived lack of depth and talent?
